Stacks of Books. Hours of Online Reading. Hundreds of Educational Videos. And Lots and Lots of Prayer. Our cancer research was undertaken with a will to find a way out of this darkness. If knowledge is power, than we wanted all of it. We read, watched, cross-referenced, until we ate slept and dreamed about cancer. Our finding were surprising, encouraging, scary, and confusing, all rolled into one. Our main takeaway was that cancer is mainly a metabolic disease, not just genetic. It is caused when our body's immune system is not working correctly, and the cancer cells that live inside of every human are able to prevail and start building a tumor. We can fight back by building up the immune system, drastically changing our diet, and pursuing a healing type of life - rest, low-stress, meditation, Scripture, exercise, time with friends and family, and of course careful medical treatment.
Our top informing author is Thomas Seyfried (https://tomseyfried.com/), a biologist at Boston College who is pushing the idea that we need to re-think what Cancer is in order to correctly fight it. He says by using a Ketogenic diet, along with medical practices, you should be able to be healed of cancer, and stay healed. This isn't something even the most aggressive conventional doctors will say. They think there is no way to keep cancer from coming back, all they can offer is early detection.
And so we embarked on the diet change. We began a ketogenic diet. I cleaned out our food cabinets, fridge, and freezer down to almost nothing. I shopped for the approved items - mostly whole foods and a few new keto substitutes that have been created to ease the transition away from processed packaged food the store majors in selling. I also tried to begin increasing work on the other healing factors - trying to exercise daily, increase my sunlight exposure, move at least 10,000 steps a day, read more Scripture, and kick out things that add to my stress levels. Altogether, these changes should be very good for me and my entire family, and we hope to be healthier than ever soon. Of course we are highly motivated!
My diet summed up:
Keto foods: Avocados, Olives, Olive Oil, Butter, Heavy cream, MCT oil, Eggs, Bacon, Chicken, Beef roast, Berries, Almonds, Spinach, Broccoli, Cheese, Greek Yogurt, Fish
Things to REMOVE: sugar, carbs (maximum amount of 50 grams per day), most fruits, anything ultra-processed (if you can't pronounce or recognize the ingredients, don't eat it)
