This week was full of treatments and scheduling, and although I'm getting used to everything, it's also getting to be difficult to have patience on the journey. If things go according to plan, I'm only about 1/3 of the way through. But I keep reminding myself it could be much worse, and I'm having almost no side effects at all! I'm definitely getting plenty of time to rest, listen to podcasts, sew, and read!
Monday was a short session, during which a large tour group came in and one of the doctors talked to them about a few of the machines they use in the room I was sitting in. It was very interesting, and he shared how many toxins we are exposed to from pesticides and other things. He emphasized that each patient is given customized treatment with well-researched medicines and methods. I had some time to kill afterwards, so Jason and I explored town a bit, then I went back and got another lymph massage and some thermal treatment on the tumor site.
Tuesday was another chemo day, and this time I didn't feel sick or too weak or anything much. They have adjusted the medicines and timing so that my body responds better. I'm always pretty hungry afterwards, so I ordered ahead on my app and got a keto burrito bowl from Chipotle. Very delicious! I felt extremely tired once reaching the house, so I took a long nap and then chilled all evening with the family.
The remaining days were very similar, expect a few evenings we took our dogs to a nearby dog park and watched them run around and make friends. Connor and Jason enjoyed climbing some steep rock mountains behind the dog park. Connor is eager for me to try one day, but so far I haven't quite felt up to that! We finished up the week with one last chemo day on Friday, and I felt pretty good afterwards!
On Saturday we explored another part of town, including an art museum and an old bookstore. My energy ran out, so we spent a lot of time at the house as well. We're trying to balance treatments with plenty of rest time, but also exploring some and taking the kids on little adventures so they aren't too bored. They work on their school while I'm at the clinic, and in their free time they draw, read, and play on their computers. We take walks around the complex often with our dogs, and try to go for at least one hike each week to enjoy the scenery. The mountains are especially beautiful here, even in the winter.
Things are going well, but we're getting weary and missing home. Please keep praying that healing takes place quickly! My doctor adjusted a few medicines, and the bloodwork didn't show much progress, but she said that can also mean the fight is taking place inside so the numbers will fluctuate.
