Weeks 7 & 8

Published on 10 February 2025 at 12:22

These past two weeks have been busy and productive.  I've received over 15 hours of infusions, chemos, and other therapies, and have spent time hiking, cooking, and exploring as well.  The doctor has adjusted a few of the treatments based on my twice a week bloodwork, adding in large amounts of Vitamin C, and upping the dosage of some of the other infusions.

My body has figured out how to handle the chemo, and I'm able to see my blood sugar drop correctly and rise as needed with the right foods and timing.  The cancer numbers seem to be falling again!

Our family has been able to get out and attend some local museums, hiking spots, church services, and shopping areas for fun between the treatment hours.  We know this Arizona sunshine is good for all of us!  We look forward to getting done here though, and getting back home to Texas hopefully in a few months.  We've been out here 55 days already.

This week I meet with three different doctors to discuss progress, and an upcoming procedure called CIPI - a surgical infusion of chemo directly into my tumor site, which has proven very effective for other patients.  Your prayers are appreciated as we determine when to get this done!

I'm also dealing with a very sore neck and shoulders, either from too much cross-stitching during treament, or just from not sleeping in a good position.  I'm seeing a chiropractor to hopefully get that resolved and start feeling good again.

Overall it feels like the treatments are doing their job, and I'm able to feel mostly well each day.  The kind words, gifts, cards, and memes from friends and family are so encouraging and very much enjoyed!  We hope to be at least halfway done with this "adventure" and can set our sights on the future, cancer-free!
