Week 9

Week 9 started off great, we had a great time at church, got to go on a night hike Sunday evening, and then had a wonderful meeting with my doctor on Monday morning.  She said I'm doing great, the cancer is going away, but she'd like to see a faster progress, and we agreed.  We're giving the go-ahead to get the chemo injection surgeries started as soon as possible, as well as starting a few stronger medications like Tamoxifen and Lynparza, both with harsh side effects but powerful fighters against cancer cells.

Then of course, I had a setback.  My permacath starting working itself out, which is something that happens on a fairly rare basis.  The nurse told me I'd have to stop all treatment, and have the cath removed and an entire new one put in.  The process had to be scheduled, so this week was very sad and scary as I dreaded having to go through that surgery again.  Thankfully, the removal was very quick, and on the morning of my new cath surgery, I was able to take some calming medicine that helped me face things much better.  I spent the next few days in a good deal of pain, but just tried to patiently wait to feel better a little bit at a time.  I was able to have some chemo on Friday, and then rested all weekend.  Not the week I had hoped for, but at least we're back in business!

Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers, and for praying extra last week as I had that unexpected setback.  I'm hoping the next few weeks turn out to be very effective in the cancer journey.
